Many years ago, as a part of my addiction recovery, I was told to create time in the morning for prayer and have conscious contact with God throughout the day.
I’ve been practicing that routine for over thirty-four years.
It’s made a difference.
Some things I’ve learned about prayer over the years:
- It’s impossible to be in constant contact with God if you are in continuous contact with the many distractions on your cell phone.
- Don’t delay your morning prayer; otherwise, you will be creating an opening for the enemy to play with your thoughts right out of the gate.
- Starting each day thanking God for three things and then dropping to your knees in prayer is the absolute BEST way to start a day.
- Always pray when you don’t want to pray.
- Prayer is a two-way conversation with God. Therefore, you must make time to listen.
Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
