Reflection
My wife is a watercolor artist.
She does beautiful work, but you would think she was still a beginner if you asked her.
She has a studio she sequesters herself in as she paints. I try my best not to bother her, but when I do, I ask her how it’s going, and ninety-nine percent of the time, she will say in no uncertain terms, “Not good.”
Occasionally, I sneak into her studio and marvel at her finished paintings when she is not around.
Her work is amazing, and I would say that even if she weren’t my wife.
Observations
From what I’ve observed, it is really difficult to paint a perfect picture the first time. A beautiful painting is usually the result of several failures combined with the drive and grit to not give up and to keep failing forward.
That is the formula for becoming good at anything in life.
Whatever you are trying to do, keep failing forward.
A beautiful picture often arises from the ashes of failure.
Philippians 4:12-13, “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
