Last week I had a free day and decided to spend it on one of the many beautiful bike trails the state of Ohio has created for biking enthusiasts like myself. I enjoy riding this time of year because the weather is comfortable and the colors of fall surround me throughout my ride.
Most of you know I suffered a pretty serious accident on my bicycle at the end of May and was somewhat out of commission for three long months. Those three months served as an opportunity for me to inventory my life and assess where changes needed to take place…one of those changes had to do with the way I ride my bike.
The opening quote reminded me of the new attitude and disposition I have taken on while bike riding these days. I ride with a spirit of gratitude and sing His praise as I catch the beauty of His presence along the way. My previous rides were all about speed. FYI…speed kills…or it almost kills.
I know people whose lives are all about speed…and they miss a lot of “God stuff” along the way…I write from experience.
Psalm 139:7-10
7Â Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9Â If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10Â even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
