If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.

I will never forget that moment nineteen years ago as I sat in front of the TV and watched two jets barrel into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.  That moment and the moments thereafter create a time indelibly etched in my mind.

At that moment I realized:

  1. Evil is real and amongst us all the time.
  2. Life is very short and there is definitely no time for hate and/or fear.

Sometimes I think evil exists to remind me how important it is to live, laugh, love, and look at the world through the lens of Jesus.

The scripture below, from the book of John, certainly hits the nail on the head in what our world is currently going through.

No matter how bad it gets it is very comforting to know that Jesus has already conquered it.

John 16:31-33, “Jesus answered them, ‘Do you finally believe?  In fact, you’re about to make a run for it–saving your own skins and abandoning me.  I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace.  In this godless world, you will continue to experience difficulties.  But take heart!  I’ve conquered the world.'”  (The Message)
