Discomfort and Growth

A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.

The other day after putting in a good day of work as well as a fifty mile bike ride, I decided to grab a bottle of my favorite sparkling water and kick back for a bit by sitting in my rocking chair on the front porch of my barn.  When I sit there, I am at peace because there is nature all around me and on this day there was a steady rain with thunder rumbling several miles in the distance.

While sitting there I tried my best to be one with the world.  I shut my brain off to thoughts of what I needed to get done later that day or the next day.  I didn’t look back to any of my yesterdays.  I sat in God’s presence connected to Him through the spirit he placed inside of me.  I heard and felt his calming presence as the rain splattered on the roof above me.

For about an hour I stayed connected to God and then I knew it was time to move on because God had work for me to do.

The best part about being a Jesus follower is He never lets us get too comfortable.

If you are struggling with something, try going a different direction, a direction that will create some discomfort, a direction that includes taking God with you.  If you do this, I guarantee growth is just around the corner.
