Under Your Feet

The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet.

— James Oppenheim —

Reflection

I believe the “foolish man” Oppenheim is talking about is the person who seeks happiness through the “happenings” in their life.

If you find yourself needing to buy happiness or making friends for happiness or being popular for happiness or simply looking anywhere other than under your feet for happiness…Houston, you have a problem.

Question

Do you seek your happiness from a distance, or are you able to be happy in the moment?

Solution

If you find yourself being “bi-polar” with your happiness, you may want to quit relying on your “happenings” and start relying on your own spiritual condition, which is not only right under your own feet but living inside your heart and soul.

Proverbs 16:20, “He that handles a matter wisely shall find good:  and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.”
