Reflection
I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase–“what happens in your life is not what matters; it’s how you respond to what happens in your life that matters.”
The other day I spoke with a friend who has experienced three significant losses in less than two years. I felt her immense pain as she tried to put some reason to the unreasonable circumstances she’s had to endure.
After our talk, I reflected on the twelve months my dad and my in-laws were taken to the Eternals with minimal warning.
Grief and the grieving process are complicated, and we all handle it differently. The storms of life very seldom make sense, but if we go through them with total dependence on Him and a “push through” mindset–they make us stronger.
One key to effectively navigating through challenges and unwanted circumstances is caring for ourselves spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
Grieving is normal, but allowing the grief to rob us of our desire to be our best selves is of the devil.
Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
Proverbs 4:23, “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”
Psalm 31:24, Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
