No Speak and Know

He who knows does not speak. He who speaks does not know.

— Lao Tzu —

Reflection

The quote by Lao Tzu aligns perfectly with a Proverb I read a few days ago…

Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him. (Proverbs 26:12)

The older and wiser I become, the more I realize how little I know. I guess that means wisdom includes knowing that we don’t know nearly as much as we think we know.

I’m not saying speaking is a sin, but speaking significantly more than we listen is just plain foolish. I’ve been there, done that, and played the fool.
