Alive and Treasures

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.

— Thornton Wilder —

Reflection

A typical walk in the woods with our dogs creates so many treasures.

The fallen leaves create a soft, crunchy, golden path.

Radiance from the sunlight touches areas it has not reached since early spring.

The brook’s dry bed reveals secrets I could not see during the rainy season of spring.

Squirrels scamper about as they are in final preparation for the winter.

In the distance is a whitetail, wondering if I’m a friend or foe.

I could go on and on and on and on.

Back to the first sentence of this writing…

Some people walk in the woods with their dogs…boom…end of story.

I walk my dogs in the woods to appreciate the hidden treasures God has placed for me to find.

Back to the opening quote.

Is your heart conscious of your treasures and the treasures surrounding you?

Treasure is always waiting for us when we look for it.

Psalm 23:2-3, “He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
