BHAGS and Jesus

The birth of Jesus made possible not just a new way of understanding life but a new way of living it.

Reflection

As a follower of Christ, this time of year always causes me to dive deep within my soul. I am utterly amazed when I think of Christ’s entry into the world, His life, His death, and His resurrection. It was all for me and for you. Jesus came so we would not be bound by sin and could live freely—for Him.

I’ve always found achieving a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) easier when it aligns with His will for me. When I attempt to achieve a BHAG that is all about me and aligned solely with my will, there is significantly more pain and strife involved.

Is your BHAG about you or what He’s about to do through you?

Years ago, my AA sponsor, Vic, told me the only prayer I needed to say every morning was this:

Heavenly Father, I pray for the knowledge of Your will for me and the power to carry it out. Amen.

I’ve included that simple line in my morning prayer for almost forty years. You may want to try it, too…it works.

Luke 2:8-12, “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for everyone. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you: he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
