Negative self-talk is another human action born from fear. There are plenty of time wasters but none more debilitating than this one.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about negativity. Â It is one thing to have a negative outlook on life but it’s another thing to have a negative outlook on ourselves.
God wants our thoughts to give us peace, joy and confidence in our abilities.
The devil tries his best to get us to dwell on self-destructive thoughts. Â These thoughts are nothing but time wasters and often create anxiety that turns into paralysis if we aren’t careful.
I’ve always had to deal with a “negative committee in my head” and every now and then I visualize myself “firing” the members of the committee who are talking negatively to me. Â This sounds corny, but it works for me.
Our days are numbered and we are living on borrowed time. Â Therefore don’t waste a minute of your life talking crap to yourself–talk truth, hope, and possibilities…and fire any of the crazy committee members in your head as often as you need. 🙂
Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
Reflection:
What beliefs, thoughts and actions cause you to waste time on negative self-talk?
