Daily focalPOINT – Character is a Process

“Over time, is it easier or harder to sustain your influence within your organization?  With charisma alone, influence becomes increasingly more difficult to sustain.  With character, as time passes, influence builds and requires less work to sustain.”  ~John Maxwell

A great litmus test for you as a leader in seeing where you are with what Maxwell talks about above is to take an honest look at how much talent has left your organization over the past few years.

I’ve seen organizations attract tremendous talent due to the “charisma factor” of leadership but eventually the talents’ character sees through the leader’s charisma.

Proverbs 10:9; “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”

Over the next couple of months I will be using a John Maxwell quote and expounding my experience on it.  John Maxwell is one of my “book mentors” as I’ve read most of his books on leadership and how to do it Christ’s way (my interpretation)
