December Boom and Shoes

If God sends us on stony paths, he provides strong shoes.

— Corrie Ten Boom —

The opening quote certainly rings true if you’ve read Corrie ten Boom’s book, “The Hiding Place.”

I found myself continuously shaking my head in disbelief as she so vividly described the horrible conditions she endured as a prisoner of the Nazi Germans.

She and her sister, Betsie, never stopped preaching the Gospel throughout their horrific ordeal.

The Gospel was their shoes.

Question

When the going gets tough, whose shoes do you wear?

Those provided by the world or those provided by Him?

Psalm 23:1-6, “A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
