I hope you’ve enjoyed another round of “Gratitude Month,” albeit a somewhat different one.
2020 has been playing some interesting tricks on the right (creative) side of my brain and I’m simply trying to do my best to dance with them.
I was about three months sober when I was first introduced to “Gratitude Month” in the rooms of the AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings I was attending.
I was about as low and self-defeated as I’ve ever been when I walked into the AA rooms during my first round of Gratitude Month.
It was in those rooms where I realized I had a choice on whether I looked at things from a positive perspective or a negative perspective.
It was in those rooms where I was told I had a choice on whether or not I had a grateful heart or a bitter heart.
It was in those rooms where I first heard that my gratitude was not dependent upon people, places, and things.
I could go on and on.
Today I am grateful for the perspective change that Alcoholics Anonymous gave me…I most likely would not be alive today.
Psalm 136:1, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
