He will never forsake you…

Last night the weather report indicated we were in for a winter storm.  We could expect rain, snow, ice and all of the above.  People rushed to the grocery to get extra food.  Most schools cancelled all activities for today because of the much anticipated storm.  I like snow, I was excited because snowy days at my home in the woods bring about a picturesque scene that creates serenity in my soul.  I was “pumped” about the snow storm!

I got up this morning and it was raining.  The forecast for the area in which I live predicted snow beginning at 1am and not ceasing until 7pm.  I went to www.weather.com on my computer to see when the snow would arrive.  Go figure…the snow was not going to arrive, at least not today as the weather system stayed to our north.

During my morning run I chuckled to myself as I wondered how many “snow lovers” like myself were let down by that darn weatherman.  Then I thought it is so comforting to know we have a God that is always right.  We have a God who is always there for us.  We have a God who never let’s us down.  Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forake you.”

Today I try to put all of my hope in God because I know I can count on Him no matter what.  The days of being dependent upon other people, places and things for my serenity and peace are far and few in between.  Shame on me forever thinking the weatherman was going to be correct today.

How many times do we let other people, places and things determine our peace and serenity?  Start everyday with the One who will never leave you or forsake you and thank him each night for being there with you and peace will become a part of you no matter what the situation.
