Tears of Gratitude

It is through gratitude for the present moment that the spiritual dimension for life opens up.

— Eckhart Tolle —

Reflection

A couple of weeks ago, a friend called to inform me that tears of gratitude were dropping from his eyes. He told me he was so amazed how much his life had changed since giving up drugs and alcohol several years ago.

We talked for a couple of minutes and the Holy Spirit filled with gratitude flowed between us.

Observations from this moment…

My friend is a humble follower of Jesus.

He doesn’t preach.

He doesn’t teach.

He tries to do the next right thing one day at a time.

What used to be tears from shame and guilt are now tears from a grateful heart.

That’s how it goes when trying our best to walk with Jesus.

I don’t know about you, but it is tough for me to be at peace and aligned with the spirit if I’m not grateful in the present moment.

How is your peace these days?

Do you live with a heart of gratitude or a heart hardened by selfishness?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
