I believe it’s safe to say that the past week was one of, if not the absolutely craziest weeks of our lifetime.
I can remember a couple of days before Lent 2020 began. I was struggling with what to write about and then the Lord gave me the thought around the fact that the world could use some peace. So I ran with it.
Over the past three weeks, I have read more scripture about peace than ever before. God knew what was coming, as He always does.
Yesterday I was drawn to the words of Jeremiah17: 7-8, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.â€
I was texting with a pastor friend of mine a couple of days ago and he told me this is an opportunity for revival and I agreed but in order for God to use this very stressful and crazy moment for good, He needs Christians like you and me drawing those lost in fear and weakness to His comfort and strength. He needs for us to keep our roots anchored in Him so we may remain green and continue to bear fruit regardless of the craziness surrounding us.
Back to the opening quote–are your thoughts and actions full of fear or full of God?
Genesis 50:20, “God turned into good what you meant for evil.”
Journal your thoughts:
What am I grateful for today?
In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?
What will I deny myself so I may draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?
Prayer:
God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
