Reflection
I felt the brutal nature of despair thirty-five years ago when I was in the absolute pits of my drug addiction.
Then, in a moment of weakness, I turned to Him by praying the most powerful prayer known to humankind, “God Help Me!”
I was not cured instantly by a bolt of lightning, but, as God usually works, he helped open my ears, eyes, and heart through a conduit called “His people.”
Eventually, “His people” led me to the Answer–Jesus–and the conduit, i.e., the Holy Spirit, now lives in me 24/7.
I’m not perfect, but feelings of despair and defeat are no longer options.
I am victorious daily because of Christ and Him crucified.
Although we celebrate Easter in a week, it is a daily celebration for me.
How about you?
Thank you, Jesus.
Psalm 34:17-20, “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.”
Journal your thoughts:
What am I grateful for today?
In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?
What will I deny myself so I may draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?
Prayer:
God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
