Reflection
I never take for granted the feeling I receive when I help get Jordy on his adult daycare bus in the morning.
All of Jordy’s friends are happy and excited for the day.
Love is so thick inside that bus; you could cut it with a knife.
My heart smiles with warmth as I walk from the bus back to our house.
I’ve always referred to Jordy as our “perspective keeper.” No matter what is going on around us, he helps us keep everything in perspective.
A HUGE by-product of keeping things in perspective is peace.
When we lose peace over another person, place, thing, or situation it’s usually due to blowing something completely out of proportion because we’ve lost perspective on what REALLY is important.
Life lessons from living with Jord…
Jordan has taught us to never get too high or too low.
Jordan has taught us how to be focused in the moment because it only takes him a second to fall and hurt himself and/or create a mess.
He’s taught us a bunch about unconditional love and trust.
He’s taught us about the joy that is delivered through a smile.
He’s taught us to never judge others.
He’s taught us the blessings to be found in helping someone who can’t help themselves.
He’s taught us to be grateful for the little things like taking car rides and walking with nature.
He’s taught us how to slow our lives down and be good stewards of our waking hours.
He’s taught us that you don’t need to say a word to make those around you better.
Who serves as your “perspective keeper?”
Isaiah 32:17-18, “And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.”
Journal your thoughts:
What am I grateful for today?
In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?
What will I deny myself so I may draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?
Prayer:
God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
