Peace and Understanding

Peace cannot be achieved through violence; it can only be attained through understanding.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson —

Seeking first to understand, then to be understood, would be a great way to quiet the turmoil and conflict in the world.

Just because I try and understand where someone is coming from doesn’t mean I agree with them. It means I value my peace more than my need to be right.

2 Thessalonians 3:16, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”

Journal your thoughts:

What am I grateful for today?

In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?

What will I deny myself so I may draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?

Prayer:

God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
