Lent Day 11 – Peace and Encouragement

Encouragement is awesome. It can actually change the course of another person's day.

Encourage Others

A habit I started several years ago was to send handwritten cards of encouragement to people whom God nudged me to do so.

A few years back, I sent a card to a friend who had just completed an enormous project to benefit his hometown.

About a week later, I received a letter of thanks from him detailing how the card I sent was perfectly timed because the project had caused much stress in his life, and my words of encouragement helped him realize it was all worth it.

A card may cost a few minutes to send to someone, but it could mean the world to its recipient.

Who is God nudging you to encourage? See the second question below…a great way to bring light to His world is by encouraging others.

Peace is not ours to keep; it’s ours to share.

Proverbs 12:25, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. “

Journal your thoughts:

What am I grateful for today?

In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?

What will I deny myself to draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?

Prayer:

God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
