Lent Day 10 – Peace, and God’s Will

To choose suffering makes no sense at all; to choose God's will in the midst of our suffering makes all the sense in the world.

— Oswald Chambers —

Reflection

For those of you who’ve been reading my blog for the past several years, you may recall the rough stretch our family experienced from June 2019 to June 2020.

  • I broke my hip in a bicycle accident.
  • My dad passed to the eternal.
  • My father-in-law passed to the eternal.
  • The COVID-19 pandemic appeared.
  • My mother-in-law passed to the eternal.

With life, there is suffering, and regardless of the size of the suffering, peace can be found if we remain in God’s will.

I write the above thought from experience because even though that twelve-month period in 19 and 20 was an absolute pile of crap from the world’s point of view, it was a year of exponential spiritual growth for me because I increased my prayer life and tried my best to stay in His will for me.

Satan has no control over your peace when you are living in God’s will.

Today, I know my peace is directly proportionate to whose will I am living in–Jay’s or God’s.

How about you?

John 7:17, “If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.”

Journal your thoughts:

What am I grateful for today?

In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?

What will I deny myself to draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?

Prayer:

God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
