Â
That quote is so true and so powerful!
How is your playing field looking?
To the left is a draft of what my playing field looks like with my guiding principles noted.
Have you decided what you are going to stand for? If so, draw your playing field and jot your guiding principles down along one of the boundary lines.
Don’t get in a hurry with naming and claiming your life purpose. Â It will evolve as we continue on this process.
Several years ago I was asked to speak with a young lady who had tremendous potential but due to an addiction problem, could not stay out of trouble. Â She was a senior in high school and was on the brink of being expelled permanently.
A couple of minutes into our conversation I asked her if she had a dream for her life. Â Without hesitation she shared with vivid detail her dream of being a school teacher for the under served.
I then asked her what she thought her chances were for achieving that dream since she had just gotten out of jail for a second time.
She looked at me like deer in headlights and then lowered her head and mumbled, “I get it.”
We become the decisions we make in our life. Â When we make decisions with no purpose behind them and with no end in mind and no boundaries to prevent us from going off course, we become a bird with no wings, and/or a ship with no rudder living a life by default instead of design.
Naming your guiding principles, i.e. what you stand for is a huge step in creating boundaries for behavior on your journey.
