Reflection
I used to have a very short fuse.
Then we were blessed with our dear Jordan, who, over the past 35 years, has lengthened my fuse to extremes I never thought possible.
Fact
But I still have my moments, and one of those moments happened yesterday at a traffic light.
Question #1
Have you ever had a “moment” at a traffic light where you are in the right turn lane, and the light is red, but the car in front of you refuses to turn right on red even when no cars are flowing through the intersection?
This happened to me yesterday, except the car not turning right on red was two cars ahead of me. 🙂
Being on a fairly tight schedule, my fuse shortened, and I laid on my horn. I mean, I LAID on my horn.
Honestly, I was VERY PO’d.
Question #2
Why was I ticked off?
Because I was trying to control something I had absolutely no control over.
Fact
Acceptance is the answer to all of my problems today.
Stuff that really matters…
Last evening I received a text from our friend Bob who’s in the middle of a fierce battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
He asked for prayer for a condition he has some early symptoms from. It is called GVHD (graft versus host disease). In a bone marrow transplant, the blood can reject the body’s organs. It can be acute or chronic…bottom line is it is quite painful.
Of course, I told him Lori and I would be praying in earnest for protection from GVHD and that I would turn his request over to the readers of EagleLaunch.
Reality
After texting with Bob, I had a flashback of earlier in the day when I had made a hind end out of myself at a red light.
After this flashback, I shook my head in disappointment for my actions.
Who knows what was going on in that person’s head who didn’t turn right?
I, for one, didn’t know, and that is where acceptance comes in.
In the grand scheme of things, the fact that the car didn’t turn right on red didn’t matter. The fact that I allowed it to cause me to lose my peace over it did matter…to me.
Solution
I’ve coined a new phrase in my vocabulary.
Instead of getting PO’d when I am trying to control something I have no control over, I am going to get PU’d (Peaced-Up)” by asking Him to give me peace and acceptance of other people, places, and things that don’t do operate the way I think they should…especially when I’m in my car.
To Close
Thanks for the wake-up text, Bob!
We got you covered with prayers of courage, strength, healing, and a Peaced-Up kind of attitude. 🙂
Love You, Brother!
