When I saw the quote by Einstein I began thinking about a Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulator (TENS) unit I bought for my muscle aches and pains. Along with the TENS unit came an intense Owner’s Manual and a half dozen wires and EKG pads.
My little to no attention span caused me to become overwhelmed as I began pondering a way I could avoid reading the manual…I even thought about sending the unit back.
But then I decided to buckle down and learn about the TENS unit so I could understand how it works and how it could be of value to me.
The opening quote by Einstein is so true but as humans it’s difficult to be of value if we don’t know ourselves and understand why God made us.
I became a Life Coach seven years ago and one of the first things I do as a life coach is I help my client understand their Owner’s Manual.
In other words, I help them figure out who they are, what they stand for and why God made them.
Much like taking the time to understand how my TENS unit worked in order for it to be of value to me, the same holds true for us as human beings. We need to understand ourselves in order to be of true value to the world.
Finding our value begins with becoming self-aware.
What are you passionate about?
What pains in the world would you like to provide relief?
What talents (gifts, strengths, unique life experiences) has God equipped you with that will help you make a difference in the world?
What principles and values guide your decision making process?
What do you stand for?
What relationships and activities are important to you?
Who and what do you stand with?
Why do you think you exist? What is your God-Purpose?
Gaining clarity on the questions above will lead to a having better understanding of the Owner’s Manual that came with your life. The better you understand God’s purpose for you, the more value you bring to the world.
