reVision

When one door closes, another opens, but we so often look upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.

— Alexander Graham Bell —

About a week ago during my end of day prayer, I asked God to give me a word.

Not just any word but a word I could carry with me in 2021.

A word that would help carry me in 2021.

A word I could share with you.

A word that would help carry you in 2021.

I captured this picture the same morning that God delivered reVision to me.

At the end of “request prayers” like these, I always close with, “I am anxious to see what you come up with in the morning Lord, Amen.”

The next morning at some point during my devotion time the word “revision” came to me.

I wrote it down like this…reVision.

After some time of reflection, I decided that 2021 is the year of reVision for me.

2020 sure did a lot of things for me.

I grew a lot in 2020.

2020 made me uncomfortable and real growth is found in our uncomfortableness.

Our vision is often significantly more clearer, precise, and focused after successfully navigating through difficult times.

I’m certain that 2020 was perfectly named. 🙂

There were two main areas of focus that came to my mind when God delivered reVision to me…

  1. I believe He was telling me to revise my vision for 2021 based on what I learned from 2020. There are so many lessons to be learned from 2020. I’m sure at some point during my 2021 writings I will venture into “lessons learned from 2020.”
  2. More importantly, I believe He was telling me to reVise the vision in which I view His world. Said differently, He wants me to view the world more from His perspective than mine. I believe 2020 served as a springboard for viewing things from His perspective. My faith grew immensely during 2020 but there is no limit to how much our faith can grow.

How about you?

Is God calling you to reVise some areas of your life?

Is God calling you to reVise the way you view the world?

Romans 12:1-2, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
