Reflection
Last week, I listened to The Learning Leader Show, a podcast by Ryan Hawk. His guest was Steve Magness, an author, and accomplished runner.
About halfway through the podcast, Magness made the following statement which really made sense to me:
Whenever an organization, group, or individual works hard to create an enemy to pit their idea against, it’s a sign you probably should not listen. Us versus them is the easiest way to exploit human nature; to get people on your side. But, unfortunately, it often means there’s no substance there.
Our world is losing its substance.
Us vs. them is no way to live.
Don’t be a part of it.
Get your substance and way of living from Him, and He keeps it pretty simple…
Mark 12:28-34, “And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
