Vision & Baby Steps

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

— Eleanor Roosevelt —

This is the thirty-eighth day of this journey in building your life playing field and we will finally be taking a look at what your vision (dream with a plan) is for your life.

Making a decision to live life by design instead of default is a decision that may only take a few seconds, but making it happen will take days, weeks, months and even years…I write from experience.

Everything depends on where you are in your life.

As I reflect back on when I started my life over in 1987, I found myself actually dreaming about my future again.  Prior to that point in time, drugs and alcohol had all but snuffed out my ability to dream and have a vision for my future.  As an addict I found myself running away from life and simply trying to survive.

After a few months of sobriety, the feeling of running toward something started coming back.  The first dream I began running after was my dream of staying sober one day at a time.  I knew if I didn’t do that, all other dreams were merely hallucinations for me.

Since 1987 I have rebuilt my life one dream at a time.

If creating a vision statement for you life is new for you and a bit overwhelming, I suggest you begin with baby steps and break it into the areas of your life which are most important to you.

imageWhat do you aspire to be personally?

Do you have a dream for your family?

Do you have a dream for your professional life?

Do you dream about doing something you are very passionate about?

The first and most critical step in chasing a dream is writing it down.
