Wisdom to Know the Difference

“God doesn’t prevent stupid.”  ~JJM

For over 27 years I have been working on my thinking and the greatest tool I have found in helping me get my thinking aligned with God’s thinking is The Serenity Prayer and I know we just spent a couple of weeks on it but I can never get enough of this prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

The courage to change the things I can,

And the wisdom to know the difference.  Amen.

There are 3 steps to this most powerful prayer and when committed to putting action to this prayer on a daily basis, you will grow in wisdom and serenity…I write from experience.

1.  God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change…

  • God, help me accept people, places, things and situations I have no control over.
  • God, help me accept the past.
  • God, help me accept things I don’t like.
  • God help me live life on life’s terms.
  • God help me quit playing God.

2.  The courage to change the things I can…

  • God help me change me and my thinking by helping me align my will with your will.
  • God give me the desire to pray and seek your guidance and wisdom in all I do.
  • God help me stay away from spaces, places and faces that provoke my old thinking.
  • God help me stay close to spaces, places and faces that provoke the new way of thinking I yearn for.

3.  The wisdom to know the difference.

  • If I quite trying to change other people places and things I have no control over, and I spend my time changing my thinking, I will quit looking stupid….
  • WISDOM HAPPENS!
