Yesterday I achieved a goal I set for myself a couple of years ago. I completed a ½ Ironman Triathlon distance race twice in one month…so I could say I did a full Ironman (2.4mi swim, 112mi bike, 26.2mi run) in one month.
This particular goal took me three years longer than I wanted because of a couple of nagging injuries. In essence I’ve been training well over 1000 days for this moment and even though my time was about average for my age group and there will be no articles about me in any sports magazine…I did it!
The opening quote is my perspective on how to become successful at whatever you are doing.
There is a period of time where we put our head down and work and wait but we need to have confidence that eventually we will reap the fruits of our focus and hard work.
Where I see most people fail in this “work and wait mode†is they get in a hurry or they get lazy, or they jump from dream to dream or they do all of the above.
How are you when it comes to chasing a goal or a dream?
Patience coupled with hard work, focus, and perseverance is the recipe for success in whatever you are trying to accomplish.
Interesting Fact: Whenever I write a blog I place it under a category. Usually each blog has anywhere from one to three categories it touches. For this particular blog I placed it under twenty-five (25) categories…there is so much to learn from setting goals, working hard, and not giving up.
